LEAVING ONE YEAR EARLY

I was always planning to go on my mission after attending one year of college and turning 19, since my birthday is June 30th.  This last October 2012 Conference, I was with a bunch of friends in Park City when we were shocked to hear the news.  President Thomas S. Monson announced that young men could now serve a mission at the age of 18 instead of 19, and women could now serve at the age of 19 instead of 21. Wow!  It took some getting used to, and deciding when was right for me to go. It felt right to serve a mission at 18, so I started filling out my papers and preparing to serve. I also had to apply for college and scholarships so that I would be ready when I returned from my mission. It's been a big change, but I am really excited to serve a mission!
